Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Airport pick up and transfer to a Hotel.
Our agent will greet you warmly when you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and then drive you to your chosen hotel in Moshi town where you may have supper and spend the night.
Accommodation: Moshi Salsalinero Hotel
Day 2: Marangu Gate – Mandara hut (1860m- 2751m).
Check out of your accommodation after breakfast in order to transfer to Marangu gate for registration and a briefing before you start your journey. The climb then kicks off with a climb through a tropical rainforest, where there is a good chance of spotting blue monkeys, birds, tiny coffee and banana farms. After that, you will transfer to Mandara Hut, where you will have dinner and spend the night with views of lovely hills. Completing this ascent will take you about 5- 6 hours.
Day 3: Mandara hut – Horombo hut (2715m – 3705m).
The second day of the hike starts with a steep but not difficult climb through a woodland before emerging into high moorland. If the weather permits, heath zones may provide your first glimpses of the Kibo and Mawenzi summits, which make up Kilimanjaro’s summit. At this stage, the sunrises and sunsets are quite beautiful. After that, you will check into Horombo Hut for dinner and the night.
Day 4: Horombo hut – Kibo hut (3705m – 4730m).
Your campsite is located at the base of the Kibo crater wall, and you progressively ascend today before navigating the lunar desert of the “Saddle” between Mawenzi and Kibo.. This will take you between 6 -8 hours as you penetrate through alpine zones until you reach the camp. Once at camp you rest, enjoy dinner and prepare for the next long day.
Day 5: Kibo hut – Uhuru Peak – Horombo hut (4730m – 5895m – 3705m).
Wake up early enough, around midnight, to start your climb to Gillman’s Point in time to see the sunrise. Those who have the strength to do so can go on to the Uhuru summit from this point. The summit’s stunning and expansive views make it possible to get special photos. Take a minute to admire the African plains and your accomplishment before starting the descent to Horombo Hut. Overnight at the hut after dinner.
Day 6: Horombo hut – Marangu Gate (3705m -1860m).
You have a long downhill ahead of you on this day. Following breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters at the Marangu gate where you will pick up your certificates and be greeted by your driver. At this point, you can also provide tips to the tour guides and cooks. You will be taken back to your hotel at Moshi Salsalinero for dinner and a night’s relaxation after being picked up by your driver.
Day 7: Departure.
Enjoy your breakfast and a pleasant morning before checking out and meeting the driver who will take you to Kilimanjaro International Airport to catch your trip home. The safari comes to an end at this point.
